Double Boosh!

Another youtube update! Holy WHAT!? I know, right? I haven't uploaded to youtube in about 2 years it feels and all of a sudden--DOUBLE BOOSH. 2 videos in the same week, man. F'ing nuts. Meanwhile, here's the video from yesterday: I've actually more or less figured out which poem to read, but I'll gladly still take suggestions :) The choices are Walt Whitman's " From Pent-Up Aching Rivers " T.S. Eliot's " The Hollow Men " W.H. Auden's " The Letter " (actually, I could be possibly persuaded to read "The More Loving One" if anyone actually asks for it...) I'll print it out and start markerizing it up today and maybe have something out sometime tomorrow....? 0.o It's a scary thought, frankly. I'm still kind of amazed that not only did I upload something to my youtube twice in one week but that I actually edited this second one. Crazy, yeh? It's a testament to how far I'v...

POETRY. It rocks. I posted a video on youtube about my poetry-reading-ambitions , and in that video I linked here (and to the post I just linked to), and now I'm embedding the video here.   Is anyone else reminded of, like, a social networking orgy scene of some sort? But seriously, I'm actually pretty excited about posting my poetry on my youtube. It's something I've kinda wanted to do for a long time, and I guess I finally found the balls to try it. I might even upload something later today or tomorrow. It'll almost certainly be something by someone else and mostly for practice. I'm thinking either Walt Whitman's " From Pent-Up Aching Rivers ", T.S. Eliot's " The Hollow Men ", or shortest of all W.H. Auden's " The Letter ".

What it means to be a Palmer.

So, my cousin Jill is pretty awesome. She's the only daughter of my dad's older sister, Judy, and she's an astrophysicist. Or something. Like, she definitely got her degree in astrophysics. Nowadays, she can be seen doing cool shit like this: Her video, here, captures what it means to be a Palmer. What others may deem dorky frivolity, we see as endless amusement. We know stuff--lots of stuff, often--but use our intelligence not to show off or pwn the world, but to give ourselves a hearty laugh. Or a gleeful giggle, as Jill illustrated. We are a goofy bunch, you can be sure. But we keep life interesting. Sure, we could go off naming some new nebulae or calculating singularities (or writing the next great American novel), but we just wouldn't be proper Palmers if we didn't find some way to make ourselves break out a grin and a laugh over something loosely relevant or wonderfully obscure or fantastically blinky-shiny. For me, I know I wouldn't have...

Awesome song, great bandname.

I've been veritably obsessed with this song the last couple of days. Maybe it's been a week. It's been creeping up on me hardcore. Like, I can't even remember when I first heard this band or listened to this song, nor who (if anyone) recommended them or how I heard about them. It's a mystery.  But, however I discovered them, I'm so fucking glad I did. Some naysayers out there (ahem, Parker ) complained "it's just like Interpol" because these naysayers also like to complain that "all you listen to is Interpol!". Jerks. They do have one point--I do seem heavily drawn to thrumming rhythms. And other stuff. I'd point out these fools are still mistaken. I might, if I were hastier, liken them more to a cross of, say, Brand New or Fall Out Boy (?) with a heavy helping of Snow Patrol (and not just because of the accent). I'd have to think harder on this before fully consigning myself to any comparisons, of course. But even some...

Brief updates.

So I'm about 50% (really more like 30%, but who's counting....) to sorting out this vlogging thing. Suffice to say that this week's Bad Movie Monday will likely not be a vlog. The problem isn't so much the vlogging itself. Lord knows I'll talk anyone's ear off if left unchecked, and I talk to myself plenty enough to feel comfortable talking to a webcam. No, the trouble has been more in the filming (I'm not sure if it's the camera, the program(s), or the computer, but there have been some irksome issues.) and the editing (it scares me.). Gonna hafta work on both parts of that.... Meanwhile!, I can feel some sexy Doctor Who posts brewin'. At the least a 'page' along the side justifying why I think it's basically the most amazing show/phenomenon/thing ever. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

I LOL'd.

For the record, I still haven't seen Inception . However, I've seen at least two hilarious parodies of/using  Inception . The first makes fun of  The Room , a movie that really needs no-making-fun-of-ing and yet totally begs for it. The second I just discovered on a friend's blog, bestfunnyblog.com , and makes fun of Dora the Explorer .

What the Nova...

See, I hardly understand the whole prince of Persia weirdnesses, but the combination of a (polite) Lady Gaga Parody and the sheer presence of LisaNova made me very happy. I'm sure I'm just suffering from the initial giddiness, but I'm till gonna post this shit.

"Light Drive" - Parker's new video!

That dork; he's so proud of hisself cuz he shot the video, wrote & recorded the music, and posted the whole thing all in about 5 hours. Actually that's pretty sweet. Congrats to mah roomie/biffle ^.^ There's some pretty sweet guitar work; pretty much awesome. Mhm.

Cosmo Jarvis - Gay Pirates

Too cute. Not much more needs saying--I'll let the video speak for itself :P My friend Colin showed this to me; thanks, man!

More of the Awesomes from Parker Bleu

So my biffle/roomie has done it again; more loveliness :D Granted, I'm biased, but I really like this. It sounds like a cross between the soundtracks for Braid and Donnie Darko . Parker, of course, insists it's way different or something. Still pretty though. By the way, I got contributed to this one--and, no, not just that flash of me at the end. Parker recorded me typing on mah "broken" typewriter for the end bit. Mhm. Insider info: Parker's actually planning a whole series of videos linked together to tell a story. It's gonna be pretty trippy-sexy from the sound of it. This is actually the second; bonus points if you can figure out what the first is :P

What the fucker/Parker is the coolest guy ever :)

So I'm still a bit irked up in the head over a fight (?) I had with a good friend last night. I've slept on it so I feel better, but I was pretty headfucked over it earlier. I'm sure there are better circumstances to plug my best friend/roommate's fuckin neat-ass youtube work , but at least I can bring something positive out of griping about  this fight with that other friend...? maybe? So I've known Parker for a lil while now, and he's my best friend & roommate, and I fucking love this kid. Music is his life, basically; he films, edits, and sets all of his youtube videos to his own music. And they're fucking brilliant & adorkable; just the kinda people I like to be around, eh? :) Seriously, check out his stuff--he just uploaded a video last night! So I'm talking to my friend, and I tell him quite earnestly--adoring fanboy that I am--to check out Parker's stuff . But not only does he refuse to, he refuses to rather bitchily. He can...

(My) Poetry: Youtube Reading...

Yeah, I did it. And with a poem I wasn't really done with (read: hadn't actually revised). But it came out decent. I tried not to be nervous, and I tried to be prepared/expressive/natural/real and that went...well? I guess? Thanks goes out to my friend Parker who insisted, filmed, and edited the whole damn thing. We'll probably do more, just a warning.... Well, here it is along with text of the poem as of the reading (some words may differ; I'm typing what's in my pad not what I said....): I find it kind of funny How for someone like me --Renowned for the short breadth of his attention span-- How well and how long You've held it; How easily you've distracted it How vastly it's whored itself In vain fantasy Of someday Catching yours.  Through all this All these times we've lost touch You've moved away or moved back Through all the confusions & boyfriends I've still thought of you (In one way or another...). A...
