So I hosted the pre-show for Rocky Horror last night; it's honestly about as much fun as I can hope for in any given week. And I mean that awesomely--I love MC'ing Rocky.
I love interacting with the audience--doing whatever I can to get them pumped and excited. I love teasing them, making dirty jokes, and otherwise putting them in a dirty, humorous time.
I think a good pre-show is every bit as important as a good shadow-performance or call lines. If the pre-show sucks or drags or doesn't engage the audience, why should they get excited about the movie? Plus, it's when all the really memorable stuff happens--like Virgin Games.
Mmm...I love me some virgin games.
Right now we're/I'm fiddling around with a new one. We half stole it from a neighboring crew, SM (Satanic Mechanics), but I've mod'd it a bit.
Originally we'd pick a few virgins and give them some span of time to assume some creative sex position and give it a name. In the interest of time, I'm trying out giving them the names of imaginary sex positions and having them try to enact it.
(We couldn't do this last night, but I'd then have whichever group won that round stay up to take turns faking an orgasm; the winner of that would get to go back stage. And you know, get buttraped by trannies or stuff.)
I think this is a lovely blend of sexy and speed. Used to be we'd pick like 8 people to come fake orgasms, and have to seriously push some folks to do their orgasm. It actually took a lot of time, especially when we used the whole When Harry Met Sally set up.
Anyway, between the virgin games, the lipstick Vs, and otherwise being a crazy fag, I always really enjoy MC'ing. If I were egocentric I might say the shows even turn out better when I do, but....I can't prove anything ;p

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
